How Ontario's market works
Since April 2022 Ontario has operated the only closed regulated iGaming market in Canada. iGaming Ontario contracts with private operators, and the AGCO regulates them. Only operators on that registered list may legally offer online casino play to people in Ontario. This is a genuine wall, not a grey area: an offshore brand that is not registered is outside the permitted market.
Where My Empire sits relative to that market
My Empire is operated by Rabidi N.V. on a Curacao licence and launched in 2023. It is not registered with the AGCO and not listed by iGaming Ontario, so it is not permitted to serve Ontario players, and most offshore brands in this position block the province. The legal gambling age in Ontario is 19, and that applies only to operators inside the regulated market.
No AGCO recourse for offshore play
This is the practical difference that matters. Registered Ontario operators answer to the AGCO, so a dispute has a provincial channel. An offshore site does not: any complaint against My Empire would go to its Curacao licensing framework, not to the AGCO or iGaming Ontario.
